Kullari's History

The founding members of Kullari formed a Rover Crew after leaving Venturers in 1979, which became a leader Crew  in March of 1980. Tug Wilson was the Group Leader at the time and therefore assisted in the set up of the crew whose  initial colors were brown and gold. Barbara West was the first Crew Leader.

As a Leader Crew all executive members had to be a leader in some section of the Scout Association. As fewer  members were leaders than Rovers, they decided to become a Rover Crew naming themselves Kullari Rovers and  changing their colors to red and white.

Kullari is aboriginal for 'Big Bird' The reason behind the name is that at the time all members were obsessed with the  character in Sesame Street. The colors of red and white were chosen because firstly; no rover crew would wear white  to rover activities and well, red stands out on white.
